Stitch Fix SF

As many of you must know by now – I am a BIG fan of Stitch Fix! Stitch Fix is a personalized fashion experience, a expert stylist hand picks and ships five clothing items to your home, including accessories, based on a style file profile that is defined by your individual taste, budget and lifestyle. All in 5 easy steps: 1. Fill out your  Stitch Fix Style Profile; 2. Pick the date you’d like to receive your Stitch Fix shipment; 3. Try all of the pieces in the comfort of your home; 4. Buy what you like and return the rest; 5. Tell Stitch Fix what you think about the items you were sent. Personally, with such an on-the-go lifestyle it is sometimes very hard for me to go to the mall and shop. Stitch Fix has become a great resource when I am the swamped with consultations and organizing sessions, but know I will have events or presentations in the near future. My very favorite part of the Stitch Fix experience is coming home to their box and not knowing what is inside. It’s like Christmas morning!

Because I am such a fan, you can imagine how excited I was to be invited to their headquarters in San Francisco to celebrate the expansion of their brand. Stitch Fix officially launched a petite and maternity option for their style box! Stitch Fix treated bloggers to some amazing food by Delicious Catering (it was DELICIOUS!), bubbly and great conversations about clothes and style with the Stitch Fix Team! Taylor, Monica and I had such a fun night! Continue Reading »

Get a Head Start on Your Spring Cleaning! Top Organization Tips for Your Spring Wardrobe

Kuzak's Closet Spring Closet Cleaning 2015 Inspiration

The first official day of spring is March 20th and you know what that means right? Spring cleaning of course! Time to scrub the baseboards, organize the home office and purge that closet. Hoping to make that dreaded wardrobe clean-out a little easier, today I am sharing with you my top tips for motivation along with before and after examples for inspiration!

Purge:

1. Revaluate your current wardrobe to determine items that are worn-out and or may not fit. Bag those to toss or donate. Styles and tastes also change so consider taking pieces you might be on the fence about and selling them to a local consignment store. The profits you make can fund those new designer shoes you have been eyeing! One of my top before and after moments was a life-changing wardrobe purge. Check out a Shopaholic’s Closet Makeover HERE.

2. Refurbish timeless pieces. A favorite pair of shoes can have a new life with a short trip to the cobbler. Also take the time to polish your heirloom jewels or have your designer items professionally cleaned and pressed. You would be surprised what a little TLC will do.

3. Shop for signature seasonal items. A new seasonal wardrobe does not mean shopping till you drop! Invest in a few pieces that you can mix and match. For example, for spring 2015 consider a fringe style purse, a statement floral skirt or pastel pumps. Stay tuned for some spring style fashion posts coming to the blog later this month!

Organize:

1. Once you have cleaned-out your wardrobe it is time to make a home for your pieces. First, pick a focal point for your wardrobe. For example, if you have a great compilation of shoes or purses use them as the centerpiece of your closet space. Second, display your wardrobe like a boutique. For example, invest in organization tools like velvet hangers that won’t stretch your clothes. A boutique like set-up will allow you to see all your clothes and encourage you to maximize use of all your items. See two of my favorite boutique like creations HERE and HERE. Read more about my love for Velvet Hangers HERE.

2. Pick a storage system that works based on your needs. For a small space, simple stackable shelve units are a great option. You can easily find these at stores like, my favorite go-to, The Container Store.  If you have a large walk-in or are working with a his and her space, consider a custom design. I work very close with Valet Custom Closets for many of my organization clients and they never disappoint! For a look at my Personal Closet Storage before and after solution see HERE. For a fabulous His and Her Custom Closet Storage read HERE.

3. Don’t underestimate the power of bins and labels! Measure out your space and shop for containers that fit the space. Bins help store loose items like scarves, jewelery and seasonal pieces like sweaters. By using bins for these items they will not only be more accessible, but protected from snags and dust as well. Bins can also work for cataloging large shoe collections, which is particularly helpful when switching out shoes from season to season. See how bins and labels transformed a small Jewelry Closet HERE. Follow my step by step Shoe Bin Storage tutorial HERE.

Kuzak's Closet Winter Looks

This time of year is so busy that I often forget about all of the fun holiday parties I get to attend. Some with clients, some with friends, and others for my husband’s job. In year’s past I would settle for a single holiday look but this year I decided to be proactive and put a few looks together with help from my friend and Kuzak’s Closet marketing gal Monica. My experience shopping with Stitch Fix helped me to realize it is important to add a few key pieces to your wardrobe each season and then snap some photos to see how I look.

This year I will be attending two holiday parties at Google, dinners with friends, a festive lunch, Christmas church service, and a New Year’s wedding for my friend Wheels in Michigan. The looks I am sharing today have helped me decide what to wear to each event and also (hopefully) inspire some of your holiday looks! I am not a model, just a regular girl next door with some chub so don’t judge me too harshly, HA!

This first look I’m sharing could be worn for a holiday lunch, winter conference, or work presentation. I bought this dress at Nordstrom and it is so comfortable. I think it will become a staple to my wardrobe! The fabric is a stretchy cotton blend so it will work well if I travel. I have paired it with my favorite black and white pump and over-sized handbag in this photo. I could see it paired with boots, a fun scarf, or even flats.

Day In The Life

Oct 30, 2014

Another month down, its hard to believe we only have 2 months left before we close the books on 2014.  October was full of exciting things at Kuzak’s Closet and in my own personal life.  We had an event with a global brand, we held several estate sales and liquidations, we organized homes in Silicon Valley, and most importantly I made time to get away for a few days to visit my family.

I kicked off the month with a fall event at Kate Spade at Santana Row! I was so excited to partner up with them. I love their fashion and I thought it made sense to see how we could incorporate Kuzak’s Closet vintage style with their classy timeless looks. I was able to hit the store for a little modeling gig before the event, sharing some of my favorite pieces with all of you on the blog last month.  On the day of the event, my entire staff came to support. All of the gals even had a beauty day at DryBar and then we mingled with some of our friends and lots of new friendly faces.  It was a great experience and it really has encouraged me to branch out more in the future.  I think its really important to find new avenues to promote a business and brand, while having a good time, do you know what I mean?

Kuzak's Closet Kate Spade Event

It’s been my goal in 2014 to find more work-life balance.  I’m still a workaholic but thanks to my staff I have been able to take more time for myself, my friends and my family without feeling guilty.  For example, my friend Willem organized a fun day in Napa (he does this often but I typically can’t make it due to estate sale conflicts) and I made it a priority to go.  Chris and I met up with him and our other friends Leah and Jen for lunch. Then we did a few tastings before enjoying wonderful dinner together at Bottega in Yountville.
