Organized Art Studio

If sharpened pencils, color coded construction paper, custom garage cabinets and labeled drawers make you happy than this post is for you! Disclaimer: there are no before and afters to help you feel better about your unorganized craft room or garage, just pretty pictures!

We’ll start with the art studio which is located in the back  of the garage. My client had the space finished with drywall and custom cabinets after we moved her in to her new home in October.  Taylor and I spent 2 days unpacking and organizing all of the garage items and loose ends from the move.

Kuzak's Closet National Charity League Talk

Happy New Year!  If your resolution is to become more organized than this post is for you.  I am launching an 8 week home organization series on the blog next week. My goal for 2014 is to become a go-to organizing expert.  I have been getting outside my comfort zone and talking to local groups and putting my processes on paper.  The photo above is of my speaking to the local Peninsula chapter of the National Charity League (NCL) last month.

Talking to the girls was a great experience and a reminder that passing on my knowledge of organizing is a true service.  I wanted to give the girls something to take home with him so I developed a handout featuring my 6 step organizing process.  (Please feel free to print the steps for yourself as a reminder!) Kuzak's Closet Organized Kids Spaces

Does your home feel trashed after summer break?  Many of my clients have been calling me in for organizing sessions to help get their kid friendly spaces back on track, so today I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite organizing tips for kids!

The above photo shows a before and after of a small art space that one of my client’s has off her kitchen.  The summer wreaked havoc on the space (it is also the entry to the crawl space for the air conditioner) so we needed to get it back on track.  While I was sorting all of the items I put them into piles so I could take them back to their original “homes” throughout the house.  Children are like squirrels, they are always gathering things into their zones that don’t belong!

Once all of the items returned home I could reorganize the art supplies and set up a work space for my client’s daughter to get creative.  The little space is under the stairs and it curves around to the left so I set up a little “fort” in the corner for her to play.  I gave her a few bins for her games and miscellaneous art supplies.  The table top has glue, washable paint, markers, and colored pencils.  Her daughter will love it!

Everyone Needs a Tutu

Aren’t my twin nieces adorable?  My sister Ashlie posted pictures of these dancing queens I knew I had to share…

They turned 4 in April and I decided to get them something fun and nothing says fun more like a bathing suit with a built in tutu.  If you have been reading the blog for awhile you know that I made them tutus for their 2nd birthdays and they were a big hit.  So happy to see these cuties in their fun suits, I wish I could find one in my size! Happy Thursday!
