Our Weekend

10.9.12

I can’t believe it is the start of another week.  Our weekend flew by so fast and ended up being much busier than I originally anticipated.  I had the entire day off on Friday which seemed like such a treat.  I didn’t leave the house until 6pm, gotta love days like that!  I caught up on housework and started to add some fall touches to our living room and our family room.

I printed off this free quote from Dear Lillie, she has one for every month of the year.  This quote about September is so true, it is a month with all of the joys of the summer weather and the excitement of fall.  I popped the quote into a frame and put in on the shelf in our family room.

I don’t remember where I bought this vase filler but it looks festive around my candles.

I bought this fall garland at Pottery Barn and I debated for a while on where to put it.  Originally I thought it would look nice in the dining room but after playing around with it I thought it might be fun on the mirror in our family room.

Our living room looks so much different than it did last year when I shared my trash to treasure side table makeover doesn’t it?

I’m so glad it’s fall!

My college friends Brad and Alicia were visiting Napa Valley for the week and they decided to stay with us on Friday night and hang out on Saturday.  Having house guests gave me a great reason to bake blueberry muffins.  I made a big batch and put half of them in the freezer another time.

It has been 3 years since we saw Brad and Alicia (they used to live in Chicago when we lived there).  They were both in my class at Alma College and we have had so great memories!

Alicia and I were neighbors in the dorms and lived together after we graduated.  She is such a special friend and I am SO GLAD they were able to stay with us!

I broke out old pictures and the PIG books (Personal Identification Guide) and we looked up our old pictures and laughed so hard.  I think it’s safe to say that we all look better now, 13 years later!
I had to snap a picture of this page with my picture and my sister Ashlie’s picture.  We were lucky enough to share 2 years at Alma College.  Apparently in the fall of 1999 we were really into short haircuts…
Brad and Alicia headed out around 5pm on Saturday night and then we headed to Palo Alto to have dinner with friends before the Stanford Football game.  We are really turning into Stanford Fans this year!
We had southern food at NOLA and it was really really good and the decor of the restaurant was fun.

This is our group, Anthony and Bill from Ireland, Alastair from Scotland, and Chris and myself.  I tried to follow along with all of their jokes but it was tough with all of the different accents.

I had to snap this picture of the three guys in the back of our truck, it shows just how roomie it is back there!

We had great seats in the upper deck and they only set us back $1.50.  Can you believe that!
Towards the end of the second quarter I went down to the first level to say hi to my friend Jamie and her family.  Her daughter Lili was really interested to see how my camera worked so I showed her how to snap pictures.  She was pretty good at pushing the button.  Her husband Chris’ face in this picture cracks me up, ha!

Future Stanford Cardinal!

Sunday we walked the dog and hung out around the house.  I know I am a little late to The Hunger Games party but I was finally able to read the first book over the weekend, it was such a quick read.  I’m not a fast reader but I couldn’t put it down.  I started the second book Catching Fire yesterday.  We’ll see if I have enough free time from organizing to read the whole series by the end of the week.

I’m glad I could share our weekend with you.  Cheers to another productive week!
