Dear Kuzak’s Closet,
I am a big fan of your fashion and shopping posts. I am just digging out my warmer weather wardrobe and would love to update it with a few pieces. What are some must haves for the spring and summer months? I need some help and am not sure where to begin!
Thanks for your help!
Danielle
Thank you for your question Danielle! I have been working hard to spruce up my own wardrobe, as well as my client’s wardrobes for summer and I love what I am seeing in stores this year. Tops are more fitted, bottoms are more relaxed, and classic nautical stripes with pops of color. Accessories are playing an even more important role with this seasons showings. Stock up on inexpensive jewelry, sandals, and a fun handbag to spruce up last years classics.
White denim jeans are a must for summer, I prefer this years boot cut style over last seasons skinny. They are much more flattering and help balance the fitted tops and tees that they are showing right now. You can pair your white denim with a comfy blue jean blouse or tunic and punch up the color with a fun handbag or a sparkly necklace.
Nautical strips are back by popular demand (which I love!). There is nothing like a navy stripe that makes me want to hit my local farmers market and ride my bike in the summer. Try these stripes on a cute lightweight sweater, clutch, and even a pair of canvas shoes.
Maxi dresses are still in style, I find solid colors more flattering than loud patterns. Feel free to jazz up the look with a cute pair of sandals, a skinny belt, or a cardigan.
Short shorts are also back, I even bought myself a pair last week! I love all of the subtle floral shorts that I have seen at Target and Ann Taylor Loft, pair them with a denim blouse or a solid t-shirt for a fun warm weather look. It’s not all about the sun dress anymore, you can dress shorts up! I love the sequin tank below, try to find something that is on sale and you will be surprised at how often you wear it.
