My Organized Week

I am laying on my couch writing this post and it feels good to chill out after another busy week. Kuzak’s Closet had another really busy week organizing, you probably saw my truck somewhere in Silicon Valley!  My assistant Matt worked with me during most sessions which allowed my to finish 2 large projects in record time, gotta love that.  I can’t get over how much help it is to have someone load and unload my truck, help with sorting, shop for products, and move furniture.

On Monday I spent the morning conducting organizing consultations with new clients.  This is something I enjoy doing and I hope to give all of my potential clients an “ah-ha” moment to help motivate them to clear the clutter.  In the afternoon I hit Costco to pick up supplies.  I buy my clear medium size bins, clear shoe boxes, garbage bags, Clorox wipes, and velvet hangers there.  I stock up a few times per month (depending on the projects) so I can save time during the week. My truck has a large back seat so I always have a small stock pile with me and clients love it.

On Tuesday Matt and I helped my client unpack and organize his new house.  I helped this client move last summer so I was very familiar with his preferences and his stuff.  We started working at 9am and left with a truck load for Goodwill at 7pm.  It was a long day but totally worth it.  We were able to unpack and organize the master bedroom and closet, master bathroom, kids bathroom, and garage. My client wasn’t home during the session so it was fun to surprise him with all of the progress we made. I snapped some after photos with my phone of this cute reading nook in the master bedroom, I love the mirror.

And the master closet.  It is a walk in with bars on both sides.  He thought he would need to have clothes in 3 closets in the house but after I edited his wardrobe (based on guidelines we set before the session) I was able to get everything into one. I always advise clients to try to keep all of their clothes in one closet to curb them from overbuying and to help them get dressed faster.

On Wednesday we helped an expecting mom organize her kids closets, move furniture out of the nursery, organize outgrown kids clothing for storage, and create a craft closet.  Matt started sorting clothes in the little boy’s room as I worked with my client to sort through toys and books in the little girl’s room  We needed lots of cute bins for all of the bedrooms so Matt and I went to the Container Store to shop.  I love these cute canvas bins that we found for the little girl’s room. They were on sale for $4.99 which is a great deal and they come in a variety of sizes.
The container store is located at a mall near by so after we finished shopping we stopped to grab lunch at the outdoor food court.   Matt is at such an exciting time in his life.  He just graduated from college and he is on the hunt for a career in the financial arena.  I remember being in his shoes almost ten years ago and it seemed like such a scary place to be at the time because the security of being a student is gone and getting into the job market seems so daunting.  I just keep telling him to enjoy working part time and to wait to find the right job, not the first job.  I always enjoy our lunch breaks, mostly because it is nice grab something to eat ( I never take a break when I work alone), and Matt’s stories about his friends are pretty entertaining.
After lunch we tackled the craft closet.  I ended up reusing products that my client already had around the house and my clear shoe boxes to store all of the items. I wish I would have taken a before photo because the transformation was amazing!

I labeled everything so that everyone in the house can find what they need and easily put things away.  I attached clear plates with labels on the baskets with Velcro, pretty nifty!

I have really cut down on my caffeine intake on my new diet and honestly most days coffee doesn’t even sound good.  Yesterday was an exception to that and I really needed the coffee to give me an extra boost.  I left my house a little early so I could go to Starbucks and I enjoyed my latte on my way to work while I listened to 97.7 with Fernando and Greg in the morning.  I love those guys, especially their dirty on the 30 segment about celebrity gossip.

Matt met me at my client’s and I had him build some furniture from Ikea while I sorted and unpacked toys with my client from her recent move.  We were able to reuse these cute metal bins from Serena and Lily in the play area.  Now I just need to be on the lookout for a cute play table for the space.

Action shot of Matt putting together a bed, he has much more patience that I do when it comes to reading directions.  I just look at the pictures which never works!

After the session I met up with my friend Jamie and her daughter Lili for lunch and then I ran errands.  I had a big load of stuff to drop off at Goodwill which always makes me feel good.  I love the guys that work there (some days they feel like my co-workers because I am there so much) and today one of them told me he just got a new job at Whole Foods which is exciting.

Well, that was my week so far.  Today I am going to be working on eBay from home and getting my house ready for a visit from my mom and sister this weekend.  This is Ashlie’s first trip out here so we are going to have lots of fun.  I have a guest room already but I needed to convert my office into another guest room so I made some changes.  I have been wanted to have an eBay center in my garage for awhile so having the motivation really helped.  I can’t show you my inventory because I don’t want any crazy stalkers hunting me down but here is a peek and what I have going on out there so far…

Today is the Olympic Opening Ceremony and I can’t wait!  We didn’t have a television during the last Olympics so we really missed out so for tonight’s ceremony I splurged on this special edition Chandon champagne in a red, white, and blue bottle.  Go team USA!
