Many times I open up a hall closet at a client’s house and things come pouring out! Instead of organizing what they have, they push everything but the kitchen sink inside and just shut the door, hoping that it will organize itself.
I think what my clients don’t realize is that these small spaces have big potential. Working with a Professional Organizer on projects small projects like this will save you time and headaches. These are the before and afters from a recent project. My client was using her hall closet as storage for paperwork, office supplies, craft supplies, gift wrap, memorabilia, and much much more. In a quick 4 hour session we pulled everything out of the closet (this sounds easier than it was, because it was a hall closet there was limited space to put things while we sorted). We went through all of the boxes, binders, paper and were able to create a space that was organized and functional. Now my client has a little home office center on a shelf, school supplies on another shelf, paperwork all sorted out and accessible, and a tub for each of her kids that she can add too.

Tall, plastic kitchen trash cans in the corner of a closet work beautifully, too! Since I had some really tall rolls of wrapping paper, I opted for that instead of the container with the lid.
Oh my. It is sad that the before pictures look organized compared to my house. You are saving me right now, Amanda!
