A Few Simple Touches…

Now that my Christmas Decorations are all put away I needed to pick up a few fun accessorizes to liven up my living and dining room.  It was just looking a bit naked! I decided to put a HomeGoods gift card to good use earlier this week when I saw these great pillows there when I was shopping.  I love the color combination and the size.  Before I committed to them, I asked someone in the isle what she thought about them.  It might seem strange but I always do that if I am shopping alone, and I should take a second to thank all of the strangers who have talked me out of some crazy purchases! Anyway, I think the pillows look so nice with my couch and the rest of the room.  Plus, they were only $50 for the pair so I can switch them out from time to time.

See them with the rest of the room?  The yellow ties in with the rug, the red ties in with the print in the dining room, the green with the little magazine rack, and the chocolate with the dining chairs/sofa/and leather chair.  Not too bad!
This is the print in our dining room, an artist in Chicago printed it for us named Tom Melvin.  It is of a couple in a hot air balloon, I fell in love with it because we went on a hot air balloon ride on one of our first dates.
Here is a look at the entire couch, I think the pillows cheer it up a bit, what do you think?  Harper had to get in the shot of course, she doesn’t miss a beat!
I am loving Mercury glass this year so I picked up these vintage looking candle holders at HomeGoods too.  I put the battery operated candles inside and I love how they look!

This is a picture of the candles glowing at night, very cute.

The mercury ties in with the mercury lamp across the room that I bought at Pottery Barn last year.  I love how pretty it is.

Since I have so much silver sparkle going on I thought I would keep my cute wreath up above my fireplace for a bit longer.  Originally it was hanging with a Merry Christmas sign but I think I can keep it up almost year round with some holiday accessories from time to time to make it more festive.

I hope you like the new accessories, let me know if you have more ideas to help spruce up my living room.  I haven’t added any window treatments or hung much up on the walls because we are only living in this house temporarily until April.

Thanks and have a great weekend!  Don’t forget to come back on Sunday for our weekly Sister Sister linky party.
