Today was beauty day for Harper, I couldn’t take her dirty paws and stinky smell any longer! Harper is a cocker spaniel mix that we rescued 4 years ago from the Human Society. When we got her she was one and a half years old and was never properly taken care of. She had already had ear surgery because of mites and she only weighed 18 pounds (now she is 28). Her former owners didn’t take proper care of her and I don’t think she was ever groomed or bathed. Because of her past, I always get nervous to drop her off at the groomer, I worry that they won’t be gentle with her or Harper will misbehave. I am so lucky that I found a little dog salon in San Carlos called Wow Bow Meow, she has gone their twice and the groomers are so nice and she always comes home happy and smelling fresh.
I love it when her fur gets curly and she looks like a teddy bear but it creates a lot of work for me to keep up with all of the dirt she tracks in from the backyard and her shedding. This is what her paws looked like before her beauty day today…
My favorite cleaning tool to keep up with her dog hair is my swiffer sweeper with the dry cloths. It really picks up everything and saves me a lot of time. I used to tackle the hair with my vacuum and a broom and dust pan a few times a week. The swiffer is so easy to store and I love seeing everything that it picks up, it makes me feel like my floors are really clean.
