Method Vs. Dawn

I used to think that I liked Method dish soap only because of it’s cute bottle but I recently I found out the hard way that depend on it’s performance.  I ran out and went to Target to pick up a new stock pile but my Method was no where to be found.  I asked a team member to let me know where I could find it and they told me it was temporarily out of stock.  What!
After a bit of wavering and I decided that I couldn’t go wrong with a very similar looking bottle of Dawn.  I used to use Dawn and I always liked it, I just didn’t like it’s ugly bottle on my counter top. The new bottle looked pretty close to Method’s so I thought I couldn’t go wrong – until I tried it…
Vs.

I was so surprised at the lack of performance of Dawn compared to Method.  I had to soak and resoak my dishes to achieve the same clean feel, using twice as much as Method.  I gave Dawn the benefit of the doubt but I ran back to Target and bought several bottles of Method so I wouldn’t run out ever again!

I know dish soap isn’t the most exciting topic but what are your thoughts?  Have you tried Method or Dawn or another brand that I should know about?  Please let me know your thoughts!

I haven't ever done the Dawn/Method side-by side comparison, but I do think that Dawn works WAY better than, say, Gain. But I do love the way Method looks. What to do?

Anyway, was this the Dawn you used? This kind is meant to be squirt directly onto your sponge to wash the dishes, not to make soapy water. I use it when I only have a big pot or a few dishes to wash and I don't want to fill the sink.

I love to read your blog! I am an organizer wanna-be. Good luck in all of your future dish-washing endeavors!

Yes, I used this dawn and I put it on a sponge just like I do with Method. I didn't think the foaming action was as strong as the real Dawn. Thanks for saying hi!

I think the original blue Dawn is probably better than the Foaming stuff. That being said, I haven't tried Method in ages. I did recently discover that the Trader Joe's citrus dish soap is not as good as Dawn.

I recently tried Dawn again (not having used it in a very long time.) I, too, was very disappointed. I found that the suds did not last very long at all in the water and I had to keep refreshing/refilling my sink with another squirt of soap. My husband sometimes does the dishes and he commented on the same thing.

I have a bottle of the original Dawn in the laundry room for grease stains on clothes. It can't be beat. However, I don't use it in the kitchen. I like a lot of the Method products and have them in the house.
