This organized multi-purpose mudroom checks off all of my boxes when it comes to thoughtful home design. It’s beautiful, functional, organized, and offers a ton of utility to our busy clients with four young children. They really spent time thinking about their needs and wants when they created this space and it really paid off.
There is so much storage in this space it’s really unbelievable. Many of the cabinets were empty when we empty after we finished our phase of unpacking and organizing this home. Our clients built this as their forever home and they’ve got a lot of time to utilize all of the storage at their fingertips. As their children grow and change, the needs of this space can grow and change with them.
Before we take a closer look at the different zones we created let’s just take a minute to soak up the design from Kimberly and K&L Interiors. The cabinets, the backsplash, the custom bench cushion, the tile, talk about wow!
With four little ones under the age of 7 this family has it’s share of aches and pains and we decided to centralize all of their supplies into this very visual location. We divided supplies into category and contained each group with clear Linus bins from The Container Store. I love this product because it comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, it’s really visual, and has a nice handle to grab and go with.
All of these little products can create clutter, adding up under sinks and in drawers so I love that this system keeps items quantified and contained out of the reach of little ones.
I can’t think of anything more luxurious than a gift wrapping station and this one is simple but convenient so our client will actually use it! It’s front and center, built into the island in a major hub of the home.
I love giving gifts so this little nook makes my heart sing!
The island is as multi-purpose as they get. It’s a wrapping station, laundry folding station, and major landing pad for everything that comes in and out of this house.
In the drawers below this wrapping drawer we organized on-the-go gifts for kids parties, reusable grocery bags, and picnic and outdoor items.
The drawers and cabinets around the washer and dryer contain cleaning supplies and home utility items like flashlights and batteries. Simple clear drawer organizers with velcro to help them stick in place were installed to prevent these utility drawers from turning into just plain junk drawers.
Also in this mudroom is a half bath and this entertaining and household goods pantry. When I said this space packs a punch this is what I’m talking about!
This little household pantry is larger than most walk-in pantries that I see. It was originally meant to be the main pantry for the house but the client decided she needed more space so they added a larger pantry for food items just off the kitchen. I’ll be sharing photos from that zone next so stay tuned!
I love this bright and light space because everything a busy family needs is accessible and organized. With a house this size it’s easy to overbuy so this space will help curb the clutter with a specific zone set up for household items like hand soap, paper towels, disposable entertaining items, kitchen trash bags, and pet supplies.
I just love the beach house baskets we used from The Container Store. They are a bit over the top for the space but I wanted it to feel uniform and organized at all times. There is something soothing about seeing a neat and tidy space with uniform products like this instead of just products jumbled on the shelves. Our client will walk by this pantry 20+ times a day so we wanted to make it a bit more special and I think we did just that.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this inside look into one of the most beautiful mudrooms that I’ve ever organized! I’m going to keep sharing organizing inspiration from this luxury Silicon Valley home with you and my next post will feature the kitchen and the pantry so stay tuned!
FABULOUS WORK by the team.
Thank you!
This is a dream room!! Love how many different things are being stored in here.
Me too! Glad you enjoyed it!
Velcro on drawer organizers…brilliant.
It’s one of my favorite tricks!
