This amazing walk-in closet has a special place in my heart! I mean, what’s not to love? When I try to decide what my favorite feature is it’s a toss up between the wall paper, the chandelier, and the simple custom cabinetry. Finding a home for everything in this space was a total treat and with the system we put in place our client will be able to keep it organized year-round!
Prior to having this beautiful space our client shared a much smaller walk-in with her husband at their prior home. Her shoes were layered in large bins, her handbags were buried in cubby shelves, and her wardrobe seemed half it’s size because of the lack of visibility.
The luxury of having this much space is that every item can shine making it easier to put outfits together. It also makes it easier to purge because items no longer loved stick out like a sore thumb. I wanted this space to feel more like a boutique than a closet and I think we accomplished the goal!
To give it that lovely boutique feel we swapped out all of the mismatch hangers for uniform huggable hangers by Joy Mangano. I opted for ivory so they would be light and bright just like the rest of the space. I also decided to splurge on the Joy Mangano brand because my client can always find them down the road if she needs to add more.
It’s hard not to notice our client’s beautiful handbag collection right? She has great timeless taste and I love how all of the handbags are on display which will encourage my client to swap them out more often.
The builder and the designer on this project were totally amazing to work with! Our client worked with designer Kimberly Larzelere from the planning phases and it was a match made in heaven! We were able to come in while the interiors were being installed to give our two-cents on storage and closet layouts.
I love that this shoe gallery is off to the left corner instead of front and center. It’s a little slice of perfection and I was so happy to get all of these pretty pumps lined up!
Okay, last shoe picture! I just can’t help myself!
I have had my eye on this rose gold scarf hanger at The Container Store and it’s my favorite accessory used in this space by far. If you have the room these hangers are totally worth it, no more folding!
I call the bins we used on the top row of the closet the “shimmer and shine bins” because they add a nice level of sophistication to any space. They added a nice additional element of texture here and provided storage for odds and ends like dust bags for shoes and handbags, heating pads, extra hangers, the hand steamer, and out-of-season speciality clothing.
Aside from having these bins line the top row of the closet, they are also in the open built-ins between the jewelry drawers and the double hanging. We stored clutches, beach coverups and bathing suits in them now that it is summer. Our client has a swimming pool at this house so she will want to have those items ready to grab and go!
Having a jewelry drawer is such a luxury, having two a dream come true! Taylor set up both drawers and divided our client’s collection by gold and sterling using simple jewelry inserts so it would be that much easier to find just what she needs. Again, visibility is such a perk for this system which will encourage her to accessorize that much more!
As if all the amazing amount of storage inside this walk-in paradise wasn’t enough, there is a wall of custom drawers and shelving just outside of the space. It’s adjacent to the bathroom so we have everyday items like socks, undies, pajamas, and exercise clothing in the drawers and bulky folded items like jeans and hoodies on the shelves.
Yoga pants for days! Marie Kondo eat your heart out!
Some might say this isn’t necessary but I absolutely love using this divided bin for undies, belts, and neckties. We used a variety of these linen bins inside the drawers for just that.
Jeans, sweaters, and hoodies found a home inside of the shelving behind the cabinet doors. It’s all about finding a uniform method when it comes to folding. I always have back pockets on top because that’s how I most easily identify my jeans.
Well, I hope this post gives you a lot of inspiration if you are in the middle of a home remodel or are looking for ways to make your current closet system beautifully organized. My next post will feature “his” organized dream closet, it’s just around the corner from this one!
