I periodically write articles for the Los Altos Town Crier, the local paper here in Los Altos. The editor is fabulous, she gives me a topic and a deadline and off I go. My latest assignment is on the topic of post-holiday storage and organization, something I happen to know a whole lot about considering my calendar is already packed for January to help clients with just that. I carved out some time to finish the piece (who am I kidding, it isn’t started yet), tonight and before I could get started I decided I would snap some photos of my current holiday decor just to get me in the mood. Enjoy a peek inside my home while I get to work with a deadline just 2 days away…
Jennalynn puts my tree up every year and it always looks fabulous, this year is no exception!
I would love to have a silver and turquoise themed room but with all of the beige I need to brighten it up with a pop of color and my red and white striped rug helps do just that. I snagged it at a liquidation 4 or 5 years ago and I love it!
The yacht that went unsold at a Sunnyvale estate sale three years ago gets decorated for each season. This Christmas my vintage Santa is at the front of the ship with tinsel trees, there is a tinsel “sea” if you look close and the red lights look like buoys, adorable!
This Restoration Hardware tree stays up year round and this Christmas it features all of the virtues. Jennalynn and I went to Home Goods in October to add some new items for the season and this was her idea. It’s simple but festive.
I always put my feather trees and mercury trees on top of my pie safe and this year I added a new frosty garland and snowflake lights. The lights are on a timer and come on at dusk, they were only $5 at Home Depot, one of my favorite deals of the year.
This lit snowflake runs with batteries and I love it! I had buyers remorse that I didn’t buy more of them but that makes me cherish this one that much more!
Like the tree in my dining room, this little guy stays out all year long too. For Christmas it has silver and white yarn balls on it. This room is mostly a winter/snowy theme, all silvers and turquoises, my favorite!
This handsome guy is new this year. I put a little candle on a timer under him so he lights up at night, another Home Goods score!
I love festive seasonal holidays pillows and this beaded number looks perfect on the chaise lounge in our bedroom. Little touches like this make me so happy!
This ornament tree is a new addition, it was from an event that I helped manage and at the end of the night the decorations were being donated so I had to save it. It looks PERFECT in my kitchen with all of the yellow and turquoise. I love, love, love it!
Well, those are the highlights! Merry Christmas!
House looks fabulous. I love the new mercury glass snowman. Sorry I won’t get to see it or you this Christmas.
