TGIF! I hope you all had a great 4th of July! Chris and I had a nice weekend with friends and it was great to relax and unwind. Work is going really really well right now, the word about Kuzak’s Closet has really gotten out and we are having so much fun. I am happy to be in a place where I can pick and choose which projects that I work on and who I work with. We are helping the nicest people solve their organization and clutter problems everyday and it is so rewarding.
With all of the estate sale projects we have going on it’s hard to believe that we still have time for home organization clients. I typically book sessions for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and we are currently booked into September. Taylor and I have been teaming up to tackle more of this type of work in a shorter period of time so new clients don’t have to wait so long, I apologize if you’ve contacted me and haven’t been able to get a session. I am on the hunt for an organizer to add to my team, the right person will really help with scheduling.
Here are a few snippets from recent organizing projects. I love my job and the people who I work with. Having Taylor assist me with sessions has been a blast, we are on the same page and our clients love the efficiency that we can provide as a team.
Another major highlight to my year is winning Silicon Valley’s Best Blog for the 3rd year in a row. The Mercury News sent a photographer to snap some pictures of the core of my team. Monica, our marketing specialist helped style us for the shoot and the pictures turned out so nice. Billy (back right) was so excited to be in the paper, he said he was going to send the picture to the King on Tonga! Let’s hope the King is impressed and invites us to organize his castle!
Monica invited me for night out at The Four Seasons in Palo Alto. They were hosting a sangria tasting with a DJ and small bites. It was a really great night out, it was fun to unwind and gossip with a good friend! The blush sangria with champagne was my favorite, do you like sangria?
I’m not sure if you remember the Emancipation project that we have had in the works for the last year. One of my clients has a facsimile of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Abraham Lincoln. She is interested in having us sell it so we took a day trip up the Michaan’s Auction house for an appraisal. The experts at Michaan’s were excited but need more time to research, it will be cool to find out what it might be worth!
If you follow Kuzak’s Closet on Instagram it might seem like all do is drive vintage cars and drink coffee! Ha! We’ve been working on an estate in Los Gatos with 3 neat cars. All of the them need to be driven so we can smog them so we’ve all been taking turns cruising!
We picked up the convertible on Chris’ birthday so I tricked him into thinking it was his gift! I’m pretty sure he thinks I’m nuts!
I’ve been driving this wagon the most, it really does ride well and offers a lot of storage. When I put it on the freeway it floats like a boat, amazing! The only downside is the gas mileage, it gets about 8 miles per gallon.
Harper has been enjoying the summer. I have come to the realization that my life is not going to slow down so I have to make the time to exercise. Harper has been my walking companion, she loves to hike in the hills and walk in the neighborhood. Here she is cooling off in the grass, gotta love that sweet face!
Speaking of sweet faces, check out this cat from one of my recent organizing sessions.I caught him taking notes while we organized the kitchen, how funny!
Taylor and I helped my estate assistant Al at the Alameda Antique Fair last weekend. It was fun to be on the selling side and help him work with customers and merchandise. If you’ve never been to the Alameda Antique Fair you have to go! It’s the first Sunday of the month, the shopping and the food is great! Al is in space B21 so make sure to say hello!
Taylor’s 8-year-old son Evan was playing with a polaroid camera and snapped this picture of us at an estate meeting. What a hoot! Gotta love the vintage look!
Our estate following has gotten pretty huge! Here is a picture of the crowd at this week’s liquidation in Santa Clara…
And at this week’s estate sale in Los Altos…
It’s so great to see so many faces when we open the doors, I look forward to seeing everyone each week! It’s taken me a lot of hard work to create the following that we have and I am very thankful for it. I remember when I first started organizing sales in California I would be excited if we have 2 or 3 people in line, now we have over 80 waiting to get in!
We are so serious in this picture and it cracks me up! Just call us the dustbusters! Alex and I were very thankful to have respirators and goggles this week, the Los Gatos house is very dusty, gotta stay safe!
Our summer intern Jordan has been learning the ropes. He has really enjoyed working with Alex and the rest of the haulers on Billy’s crew. Al has even been teaching him how to weld and basic car repair, he’ll be ready for college and the real world in the fall! Hopefully he’ll come and work for us again next summer!
I’ve mentioned it already in this post but we are hiring! We have 2 open positions, please click here to find out more!
I hope to see you today at our Los Gatos sale! I’m taking a red-eye flight to Michigan tonight for a week with my friends and family. While I’m away Taylor and Al will be busy with the usual projects, Sutzi is handling the candidate search, and Monica is starting an organizing series on the blog!
