“Man Cave” Makeover

Typically, men and women have very different tastes in home decor.  I have been working with a couple who got married a few years ago and prior to their marriage, the husband had a 3 bedroom house filled with his tastes in furniture and artwork etc..  Now that they are married, their new home is furnished in the decor they prefer as a couple and he has 1 room in a 4 bedroom house to fit all of his old treasures. He put all of his favorite pieces in one large room which served as his home office and “man cave” but the room just wasn’t meeting his needs.   The mix of dining furniture with office furniture and sport paraphernalia was a bit overwhelming, so they called me in to go through the stuff in the room and put it all in it’s place.

The only piece of furniture that he wanted to get rid of was a large china cabinet which we shipped along with the matching dining set to a family member across the country using a service called “U Ship.”  You put the information online and truckers bid on shipping the items.

The rest of his items were able to fit nicely once we rearranged the furniture.  He now has enough room to get to his desk and relax on his couch while watching the game.  He had ordered a new PC with a flat screen which helped create more workspace for him on his desk.  I think the room looks great, he can now see all of his collectibles and sports paraphernalia and enjoy the space as an office and a “man cave.”  When I was wrapping up the project his wife was so happy, she said “I can actually picture myself coming into this room to hang out with you now!”  That is when I knew it was a job well done.
