Shopaholic Closet Transformation

Kuzak's Closet Master Closet Makeover

Today I’m sharing one of the most exciting organizing projects that I’ve worked on this year!  Do you remember my shopaholic client that I featured on the blog last year?  If you aren’t familiar click here to read more about her shopping addiction and how letting go has helped her enjoy what she has.

We just completed a master bedroom and bathroom transformation with her that turned out beautifully.  She decided to spend money on in a way that will enhance her life instead of wasting it on endless online purchases. We partnered up with her financial coach Tari Vickery, an interior designer, and a fabulous contractor to make everything happen.  We packed up the room in early January and after 12 weeks this is what her closet looks like…

If that shot doesn’t impress you check out this side by side before and after shot!  Isn’t the organizing transformation amazing? Kuzak's Closet Master Closet Organization

I initially started working with her to thin out and organize her wardrobe.  We spent a few hours inside of her closet and instantly knew it wasn’t the best fit for all of her clothing.  She needed something custom but simple.  Before her closet was through a small door off the bathroom vanity area…

Here is the after!  She decided to balance the room better by opening up the wall and creating a giant dressing room with vanity area. Can you believe it’s the same space as the before picture?  I’ve spent hours in this room and I still can’t believe it!  Her vanity table is a gray metal with small drawers to fit her makeup and beauty products.  She picked up the lamps and accessories at places like HomeGoods, Harvest, Pier1, Wayfair, and Target.

I love the natural look of the burlap on this shade, it really warms up the room. All of her brushes and beauty tools live in jars on the vanity top…

This cute tray holds her perfume…

This dressing area is such a nice upgrade compared to her original closet.  We worked together to design the structure and layout.  It is a simple shelf and pole system installed by the contractor.  It looks like her own personal mini boutique, perfect for a shopaholic!  Instead of shopping online she can shop in her own closet!

Don’t you love the storage ottoman in the middle of the space?  It holds extra linens and is a nice spot for her to sit and put on her shoes and boots.

I found these cute chalkboard boxes at Target from the Threshold line, do you love them as much as I do?  They hold out of season shoes and look cute on the shelves.

Let’s just take a look at another side by side before and after.  Pictures say 1,000 words and I know these organizing before and afters will tell you more about the project than I can ever write!

We created a nice built in shelving area to display her amazing cowboy boot collection.  Which pair do you like the best?

There are more boots in the wicker trunk on the bottom of the shelving area.  Yes, it’s a lot of boots but they are a huge part of her life!

Boots aren’t her only love, check out these cute sandals! I love the red pair!

These glittery boots make me happy, I love a little sparkly and shine…

The new floor really makes the most difference in the space.  It really warms things up, much nicer than the blue shag in the before shots! It’s so clean and fresh! I’ll be back on Monday with Part II of her bedroom transformation with photos of her bedroom and bathroom.  If the closet has blown you away you’ll die when you see the rest of the room!

  1. Awesome, awesome job, Amanda! You are a brilliant story-teller, besides the absolutely best organizing specialist I could ever imagine. You create a true partnership with both the client, as well as the other members of his/her team. You address each client where he/she is, rather than imposing your needs and desires over theirs. Your compassion and understanding at a deeply emotional level, as well as your professional guidance, was paramount to the success of this project. Thanks for the shout-out!

  2. Wow! Wow! Wow! The boots are beautifully displayed. Opening the wall was the smartest thing ever! And which boots do I like best…Hard choice. No where in my life would a pair of boots fit, but I’d love to own a pair.
    Great Job!
