Today’s post is dedicated to my sister Ashlie, she is always asking for easy centerpiece ideas and I have failed to deliver until now!
I recently bought a new dining room table and I wanted to create something simple for spring to help it stand out. I was inspired by this cute rustic tray that I found at HomeGoods for $14.99. I was originally going to fill it with items from my spring decor bin but Jennaylnn (my assistant) said she would help me come up with something fresh and fun.
Her idea was to use wheat grass in the middle to brighten it up. I would have never thought about that. I love the color of wheat grass and it is really low cost, only $1.99 per container. We paired it with some natural colored easter filler from Michael’s for a soothing color combination.
She suggested that we place little spring objects in the grass to make it more festive. We were shopping for organizing products at Target when she spotted these cute shiny Easter eggs. They match my decor and were on sale for $2 for a set of 8.They open up so I can fill them with treasures this Easter!
Once we got the products together we started assembling. The first step was to line the tray with tin foil and a plastic bag to prevent the wheat grass from dampening the tray and my new table. It doesn’t look so glamourous here but it does the trick!
Next we layered everything into the tray. We started with the wheat grass by placing it down the middle. Then we filled in the gaps with the natural Easter grass. We topped it off with the eggs and…
Viola! The most simple spring centerpiece on earth…
It really cheers up the space don’t you think?
I wanted Jennalynn to help me find something to put into the centerpiece once Easter is over so we came up with this quick burlap rosette craft. Aren’t they happy!
Jennalynn will be teaching you how she made them in a blog post next week so stay tuned!
