Hot or Not!?

Hot or Not Kuzak's Closet

My sister Ashlie and I are hosting a fun summer series called Hot or Not?!  Each week we are each reviewing 2 products letting you know if they are HOT (worth trying) or NOT (not worth trying).  The products will vary so make sure to tune in every week!  We really want to hear from you so please leave us a comment letting us know if there is a product you would like us to try or what your opinions of the products we are reviewing are.  Remember, you don’t have to agree with us!

We just decided to offer a fabulous giveaway with this series, at the end of the summer we will be giving a goodie box full of items that we thought were HOT and a cute Kuzak’s Closet t-shirt in your size!  All you need to do to enter is leave a comment!  We will keep track of the comments and at the end of the summer we will draw a lucky winner.  Each comment counts as an entry so please comment each week!  There are 13 weeks left which means you have 13 chances to win!  Good luck!

Ashlie’s Picks

My brother-in-law recently brought these little Bud Light Straw-ber-rita’s over to our house during a cookout.  The size of these little cans is perfect and the taste is great!  Not too sweet or syrupy.  I loved the simplicity of it and think this cocktail would be even better served over crushed ice! Give this product a try this summer! It’s HOT!

This is one product I really wanted to love! I mean what could be better than sipping a cocktail without the guilt? Skinnygirl Sangria was a bit to syrupy tasting for my liking and the aftertaste was not much better.  When watching your calories I suggest you sip one really good drink and make it worth you time and calories! This was a NOT for me. Sorry Skinnygirl!

Amanda’s Picks

Sterilite sent me these great food storage bowls and I am loving them!  They stack inside of each other nicely, keeping my cabinet organized when I am not using them.  Each bowl has a lid and a with a little spouted rim on the side for easy pouring or to fit a spoon for serving.  I have been using them to store sliced fruit, my greek quinoa salad, and to marinate meat and veggies for the grill.  They are dish washer safe and they also look nice enough to use as a serving dish at a picnic or party.  I think they are HOT and if you are in the market for extra prep/storage containers I encourage you to pick them up!

Lately my dishwasher has been giving me the blues.  All of my glasses have been coming out fogging and I have been looking for a solution to get them sparkling again.  I decided to try this Finish Dishwasher Cleaner, it promises to get rid of the grime and soap build up that is blocking the water from circulating.  I was hoping for great results but found myself  disappointed.  After one use I ran my glasses through on a hot cycle and they still came out foggy, almost worse than before.  Sorry Finish, your product is NOT HOT and would suggest saving your money if you have are also suffering from foggy dishes.  I am still looking for a solution, if you have a trick for a clean dishwasher let me know!

  1. Ashlie – I’ll give the Bud Lite Margarita a try over a glass of ice since it’s on your HOT list. I like a good Sangria with fruit and all sorry Skinnygirl.
Amanda – how do you store the lids to the sterilite bowls? On top of the bowls or in a drawer?
For the “blues” on your glasses try Finish Jet-Dry it’s a rinse agent. Fights spots & residues for a Diamond Shine.

Can you try or know of a glue product that will repair the decorative plastic which wraps around my patio table leg? I’ve tryed Super Glue but does not hold for long. It would be nice to be able to show it off this summer. Thank you!

Wish me luck for being a winner of your contest!

    1. Thanks for the comment Kathy! I use jet-dry regularly but maybe need to see if they have a cleaning product to give my dishwasher a fresh run. The bowls stack inside of each other with the lids on, they are really handy. Have you tried Gorilla Glue?

  2. Amanda, What do you use for your dishwasher detergent? It could be that you need a new detergent and not an extra cleanser at all. I was using the Cascade complete action packs and my glasses were fog-free and very clean. Sigh. I miss having a dishwasher.

    1. I use finish liquid, I used to use cascade liquid and I didn’t have the problem. Hmmm, thanks for talking this through with me buddy! Looks like I need to go back to Cascade, I’m going to get the action packs!

  3. Mandy,
I use Dishwasher Magic which is a dishwasher cleaner and disinfectant that removes limescale and rust. You put one container in your empty dishwasher and run it through on the hottest cycle. It makes the inside of my stainless steel dishwasher spotless and my glasses look pretty darn good, as well!

  4. I totally agree that the skinny girl products are a NOT. Weird chemical taste with an aftertaste as well. I don’t understand the popularity of this brand.

  5. The name Skinnygirl alone takes the fun out of a cocktail. Again, judging our food and bodies? Go away Skinnygirl!

  6. Great pick Ashlie! I had one of these when I was golfing the other night….now I just need to find a cup large enough to fit all 24 oz!!!

  7. I absolutely love these posts, so much fun!

You could try vinegar in your rinse dispenser of the dishwasher. I was going to use that instead of buying a rinse agent for hard water (Jet Dry), but I read using straight vinegar can damage the rubber gaskets over time, but I don’t think doing it a few washes will hurt and it may help get rid of residue. It’s a shame that it can damage gaskets because for the few months that I used, it worked really well and I liked not having to use a chemical rinse agent on our dishes.

I use Cascade action packs and have no problems with foggy or spotty dishes.

    1. I’m glad you like these posts! We have had fun putting them together and it is even more fun to hear from readers about the products. I am going to switch to cascade!

  8. Hi Amanda, I’ve compared Finish to Cascade total, it’s Cascade hands down!!!!

    1. I switched to Finish about 6 months ago and it looks like I need to switch back! I am going to try the complete packs, do you like those?

  9. Will have to try the straw-ber-rita, have only tried the lime-a-rita…I like the idea of the smaller cans. Will try the Sterilite storage bowls…think I have lost the tops to half of the ones I have now. Thank for this post, I love this series.

  10. I hope Walmart has the Sterilite bowls. I have been looking for something’s like that,

  11. For cloudy dishes/glassware, try Lemi-Shine. It is the only thing I have found to work with our terribly hard water.

  12. I agree with you on the Finish fro the dishwasher. I was very disappointed.
Love this part of your blog. Some new product ideas for me. Thanks so much.

  13. Lemonade Kool Aid (the unsweetened stuff that comes in packets) will clean your dishwasher. One packet, short cycle (our dishwasher has an “instawash” cycle that’s 20 minutes). Works as good or better than commercial dishwasher cleaner and is WAY cheaper.

It may also be your detergent – liquids tend to work better than powders. If you have hard water and no water softener, you may need one. I can really see the difference when our softener is running low on salt – all our glasses come out foggy and the plates don’t feel as clean.

And friends of our have been using vinegar in their rinse dispenser for years with no issues with the gaskets. As soon as I finish up this bottle of rinseaid, I’m switching over to vinegar.

  14. BTW, it HAS to be Lemonade – the plain yellow stuff. Anything else may stain the dishwasher’s inside.
